Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox)
Congratulation on choosing the Absolute Scuba Bali, PADI Enriched Air Diver Course!
The purpose of the PADI Enriched Air Diver specialty course is to familiarize divers with the procedures, safety protocols, hazards, risks, benefits and theory of no decompression diving with oxygen enriched air containing up to 40% oxygen.
Looking to extend your bottom time ? Then check out PADI's latest program - PADI Enriched Air Diver.
This PADI Nitrox program emphasizes the theoretical and operational considerations involved with enriched air diving to allow you to make the most of your bottom time.
What is Nitrox?
The gas you are breathing now - air! - consists of approximately 21% oxygen, 79% nitrogen. This is what you normally dive with Nitrox (also called Enriched Air or EANx) has a higher percentage of oxygen with a corresponding lower percentage of nitrogen. The most common percentages of oxygen are 32% and 36%. The PADI Enriched Air Course qualifies you to dive with up to 40% oxygen.
Why is PADI Enriched Air Course so popular?
More extended bottom time for one tank! With higher percentages of oxygen, no-decompression limits are extended, because less nitrogen is getting absorbed than if doing the same dive on air.
For example: a dive to 18 m = 56 minutes using air. compared with if 36% oxygen allows a bottom time of 125 minutes.
What are the concerns?
The Slight concern is oxygen poisoning (not a problem if diving on air to recreational diving depths). Also, because diving Nitrox generally adds an extra step in the dive planning process, there is a potentially increased risk of miscalculating. Both of these concerns are fully covered on the course.
Do I need any special equipment?
No - for percentages of oxygen up to 40% you can dive with your usual equipment.
What does PADI Enriched Air Course involve?
On this one day course we cover the theoretical side of things, allowing you to become comfortable in dive planning. After the classroom we put the theory into practice and do two great dives using Nitrox.
Session One
Theory - Absolute Scuba, Padang Bai facility
In this first session, your instructor will ensure that you are comfortable with all of the equipment and that you have the necessary level of theory knowledge appropriate for the course
Session Two
Nitrox Dives - 7.30am- 5pm : Dives 1 & 2
To complete your PADI Enriched Air Diver specialty course you need to demonstrate the appropriate planning and procedures needed when breathing an enriched mix.
You will then be given the opportunity to explore one of the many fascinating dive sites located around Bali Dive Sites
